Lessons learnt from building blocks ! :)

Image
After a long time , today I decided to do something child like and started building something out of  " THE YOUNG ARCHITECT " blocks which were basically my 10th birthday gift . fooling around ;)        Filled with excitement akin to a 10 year old , I carefully laid out a blueprint of the desired house in my mind palace ( Sherlock fan :P)  and began with gusto and what could possibly better this activity other than having some amazing "music " being played in the background along with a cuppa of "adrak chai" ! So as I began constructing the base , I made the layman error of not paying proper attention to the surface area required for a sturdy construction to hold place and there went my initial efforts in vain as I saw the house crashing like a bowling ball hitting skittles !!!       I reworked and this time ensured my unwavering attention to the base ,gradually building the house and basically just going with the flow enjoying mysel

HAPPINESS DWELLS IN THE SOUL ! :)

Image
A kind word, a loving hug ,    Works way better than any sort of drug. A beautiful smile on sight with sparkling eyes,    What else could give a better high ? All we need is somebody to lean on ,   Who doesn't use us as a pawn. Materialistic things bring us temporary joy,   Once we realise it's just a decoy! True happiness stems from helping others,   For our healing begins ,as we soothe others ' blisters. Inner peace they say stems from within,  The quality to accept life ;howsoever bad;with a cheeky grin ! I think inner peace is nothing but happiness derived by our soul,  In reaching out and pulling "OTHERS" out of their hellhole. "OTHERS" may comprise of one's -Near & Dear ,   Who cares if they are straight or queer ! "OTHERS" might be total strangers,   Who are in dire need of an anchor . "OTHERS"might be wounded animals in need,   In search of a kind heart to stop their bleed. What matte

First ever Gold at Rio Paralympics 2016 !!!!!

-Mariyappan Thangavelu and Varun Bhati win Gold and Bronze respectively (Men's High Jump T42)                What a wonderful start to my weekend it has been ! Visited the Lord at Lal Baugh followed by a scrumptious breakfast at Gurukripa (Sion)  and in came the news, of India winning the first ever Gold and the Bronze  at the Paralympics in Rio . I eagerly searched for that winning jump in Hotstar . Unfortunately Hotstar conveniently chose not to showcase the Paralympics currently underway at Rio , in the way it did for Rio 2016 Olympics. It made my blood boil that hardly anyone is ecstatic of the fact that Mariyappan created history today by clearing a height of 1.89m in the Paralympics High jump and that Varun Bhati clinched the Bronze !            Mariyappan qualified for the Rio Paralympics by clearing 1.78m at the IPL Grand Prix in Tunisia in March this year . Hailing from a small village called Periavadagampatti in Tamil Nadu ,he is being coached in Begaluru

As I glanced at my desk clock I realised that it was time for me to wrap up and leave, the reason being today's eagerly awaited women's badminton finale at Rio .As I shut down my laptop, I was filled with a tsunami of emotions (Not because I was menstruating or anything !) but because it was the first time ever an Indian athlete was assured of a Silver with the coveted Gold very much in sight .So here I was, filled with a gamut of emotions ranging from patriotism  (The pride that we made it to the final in the Olympics ! ) to anxiety ( So close, yet so far!)  to hope ( Ohh deep in my heart ...I do believe ,that we shall overcome some day!!!!) to the belief that P.V Sindhu shall achieve what no Indian athlete has been able to ,in badminton in the Olympics today..........          The entire commute back home I recalled her previous match. The way she defeated Japan's Nozomi Okuhara. She won the hearts of millions by her fierce stance and aggressive stro

As I put my alarm on snooze for the umpteenth time , I casually happened to notice the phone screen . It showed 23 smses and in a moment I was wide awake wondering who on earth tried reaching me at the crack of dawn ! Worried , I squinted and unlocked my phone .           Tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ....! All 23 smses were informing me about the different sales that were going on at all possible locations and how PRIVILEGED I was to be able to enjoy them (albeit for a limited period  or till stocks last ). . This got me thinking furiously about many things ultimately leading me to pen down this blog.  So dear folks , kindly enlighten me .....  AM I PRIVILEGED BECAUSE I CAN BUY JEANS AT JEANS JUNCTION TODAY AT A DISCOUNT OF 31% AND THEREBY CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY  ? OR BECAUSE I CAN PURCHASE A HELIOS WATCH AT FLAT 50% RATE & CELEBRATE , BECAUSE APPARENTLY OUR FREEDOM FIGHTERS WORE HELIOS AND SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES FOR OUR FREEDOM !!!

Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass....It is about learning to dance in the rains :) - Vivian Greene

Image
Yesterday morning as it poured cats and dogs , I decided to take a walk in the rain .. I ensure to do this at least once every year ..A walk down the memory lane whilst it pours ! It is an amazing feeling to dance about in the rain soaking in that aroma of wet mud (minus the crazy stares people give you ), jumping over puddles just like kids , whilst making paper boats and setting them to sail and ending the walk at a random tapriwalla and gorging on "garam bhajjias" and piping hot "cutting chai" !!            So I began my monsoon walk with my watchman chastising me for not carrying an umbrella ! Who on earth would carry an umbrella when their only intention  is to get drenched to their bones ,I ask!! A few steps ahead ,the society aunties(whose sole purpose in life is to find fault in others) gave me disapproving looks akin to those reserved for a drug addict !!! I cheekily grinned back and started jogging in the drizzle...

Meena aajhi :) :)

Since the past 40 days my maid has been keeping unwell and her mother has taken over her chores. As I watched her wash my vessels, initially I was very embarrassed.. Ashamed of myself! What kind of a person am I to make an 84 yr old wash my vessels and mop the house.. It didn't feel good! Not one bit! I was perfectly capable of doing it myself until my maid returned... Why make an old lady do it? This thought tormented me for a week and I used to ensure bare minimal vessels for her to wash, until one week later; aajhi( grandmother in Marathi) quizzically asked me as she sipped her chai(yes,i serve tea to my maids ) as to whether I even eat at home as there were hardly any vessels to wash !! I apologized to her and said I had been washing everything as I felt it was not right morally on my part ,considering her age!    She smiled and calmly replied that, in that case I ought to pay her only a fraction of her daughter's salary (kind of on pro rata basis) as she dint have

10 Lessons trekking has taught me !!

Enroute Kalsubai Just keep moving ahead..... No matter how unfamiliar the terrain , how arduous the ascent , however tired one is , one must always keep moving AHEAD ..  It is April already and I haven't blogged at all this year !  NO.I haven't been all that busy ."LAZY" that is the apt word!! This particular blog was in the pipeline since ages! Anyway , better late than never  I say ! :) Do give me your valuable feedback . LESSONS LEARNT FROM TREKKING  1) TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME .    That's all that is required to reach the pinnacle !    Many a times we tend to plan out things way more than what is required, only to end up making a glorious mess of it! ( I know, I do!) Trekking has taught me that it is of paramount importance to precisely plan one's next foothold, and not the next 100metres.... unless we are sure footed, we cannot make our next move, however good it be! 2) REST YOU MUST,BUT DON'T YOU QUIT !      We often te
