Why do we need to INVEST? - A blog for beginners to create Financial literacy

Image
In my previous blog post had explained the requirement and importance of Hygiene factors as a precursor to entering the markets . Thank you for all the feedback .Today, let us explore the reason behind wanting to INVEST .  Why would anyone want to save and invest ? Let us understand the reasoning behind this with a small example! Meet the dreamer Mr. Happy !        Happy Singh and Chintamani are best friends residing in rental properties in nearby neighbourhoods .They both earn 24 lakhs p.a by working in an MNC . However their approach to life & investment is totally different ! Happy Singh enjoys life , true to his name .He SPENDS first and whatever is left in the end of the month he invests . He believes he is young and youth is the time to explore, enjoy and travel often. His philosophy : YOLO  😎😎 The result : He is left with around 15,000 by the month end after paying all his EMI 's for loans ( Mobile , Laptop , Personal  , 4 Wheeler ) and splurging on food

4 Hygiene factors to be in place prior to entering the world of Investing.

As many of you would be aware , I follow Muthu sir , one of the well known handles on Twitter for his sensible approach towards Investing .This blog post is my humble attempt at creating Financial literacy on 1 of his tweets.     We often come across stories of people from " Rags to Riches " in markets and become so enamoured by it. Who wouldn't ! Afterall , we all wish to earn easy money and lead a comfortable life. What we don't focus on is the reverse " Riches to Rags " story (which happens a lot ) and is of utmost importance as we get to learn from the mistakes of others*( More on this in my upcoming blogs !) However before we begin the journey of investing in markets there are a few things we need to have ticked off from our financial checklist to ensure we sail through turbulent times of illiquidity, smoothly.      In this blogpost I shall throw light upon the areas which need our focus prior to investing in markets.

What is Neivedya ? Why do we offer Neivedya ?

Image
Following the last thread explaining the significance of lighting a lamp , I decided to blog next on a topic close to my heart - Neivedyam and its significance. I fast often and make something as offering to the Lord aka Neivedya. So today I want to explain the rationale behind it .   Om Bhoorbhuvassuvah Amrutho(u)pasvaranamasi Om Pranaya svaha  ,  Om Apanaya svaha ,  Om Vyanaya svaha , Om Udanaya svaha ,  Om Samanaya svaha, Om Brahmane svaha. What is Neivedya? ( नैवेद्य ) . Why do we offer Neivedya ?" The post shall explain the symbolism and spiritualism behind it .This blogpost is just to give a broad overview, so that it is simple to understand for many.     Commonly we find people making an offering to the Lord first and later eating it as "Prasad" .This act of offering food first to deity in Hinduism is known as Neivedyam. One maintains required sanctity & doesn't taste the Prasada whilst cooking it as it is for

WHY DO WE LIGHT A LAMP ?

I wrote this post on Twitter today and received a lot of positive feedback, so I decided to blog it as well for the benefit of those not on Twitter. शुभं करोति कल्याणं आरोग्यं धनसंपदः । शत्रुबुद्धि विनाशाय दीपज्योतिनमोऽस्तु ते ॥ In India we light a lamp daily before the altar of the Lord. Some houses light them twice - At Dawn and Dusk. Sometimes we maintain a lit lamp continuously (Akhanda Deepam). Prior to all auspicious functions, rituals and moments we light a lamp . Why do light a lamp? Light symbolises "knowledge". "Chaitanya" Lord is the illuminator of knowledge who dispels ignorance . Knowledge removes ignorance just like light removes darkness. " ज्ञान" is a lasting inner wealth with the help of which one can build outer wealth as well . Thus knowledge backs all our actions - good or bad. Now a days people light tea light candles ( Available in wholesale in Dmart ) in place of a tra

A trip to Thane Flamingo Sanctuary !

My New Year bucket list had this particular thingy since 2017 when I first watched a documentary on Flamingos as to how they flew from their breeding colonies during winters to warmer spaces and temporarily stayed back for a few months and survived and thrived consuming the algae and thereby deriving their Pink colour !! Yes , the juvenile Flamingos are a dark brown in colour as opposed to the adult which is bright pink in colour !    So naturally my joy knew no bounds when after a lot of enquiry and searching about in December  , I finally found the perfect location to watch these beautiful migratory birds and capture them in action !! Okay! Enough build up done !! 😆😆😆😆😆 The place is right here beneath our busy noses at Airoli !! Yes , right below the Airoli bridge !! 😉 It is known as the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary as Airoli falls under Thane district ,but actually it is situated in Airoli . Details provided in the fag end of this blog.  One of the best pla

Embrace our imperfections , for we don't need to be perfect anyway!!!

The source of my inspiration to pen down this poem ! As she hummed her favourite song teary eyed but with a smile etched across her face , Fond memories made her take a walk to that old familiar place. A place which could only be described as a haven .A place where she could be herself and never be judged, But life had other plans instead. She became a victim of circumstances and thereafter spiralled into a web of self pity, People no longer interested her and she attended social gatherings rather reluctantly . The more she withheld , the greater was her misery, Until one day she screamed in agony , " Oh Lord ! Put an end to this and set me free " ! Filled with anger she set out on a destination unknown , With great trepidation ,she walked into the woods and decided to build herself a new home . Nature teaches one in ways inexplicable she had been told time again , Hence she set out to experience this and be zen. The first few days were nightmarish and f
